Dark Matters is an instrument made to encounter and explore the qualities of darkness. The instrument is an art piece that present the experience of total darkness and shades of darkness, sometimes disrupted by small glimpses of light or blinding lights. This emphasizes the experience of the return of darkness.
Light and darkness constitute composition extremes, which is abstract in that sense that neither light nor darkness is truly accessible in a pure form. Where the one extreme would be total blinding white lights and the other extreme would be pitch black in which one cannot sense where one ends and the room begins. Light and darkness depend on one another: in order to be able to talk about the qualities of darkness, one need light to describe the former with. That is why we created an instrument to analyze the different shades of darkness created by different glimpses of light. The different lights, from the barely visible to the great blinding light - are all created for the viewer to experience these different shades of darkness.
